Over the past few months, I’ve been learning to create online courses, and began to look at some of my longer classes to move to that platform. The Arrow to My Heart pendant is one of those designs… I used to teach this as a 2-part class because there is a lot of prep work that has to be done before it’s assembled. Having a week between classes took care of that. I also noticed that when I taught it, the demoes were really helpful for students.
Luckily, being able to use videos in my Teachable courses was what changed my mind about releasing the pattern. And, the beauty of this platform is that I’m able to offer lifetime access to my students. So, you can refer to those videos when you decide to make another pendant next year!
The online course contains complete written instructions (which are downloadable), twelve videos, and a BONUS Challenge. I hope you’ll check it out… you can preview the Overview video, and view the Materials List & Gallery at this address: Arrow To My Heart | Karen Long Designs (teachable.com) And, while you’re out there, take a look at the other courses I have by clicking on All Courses in the header!
My goal was to release one course per month, but Texas was hit with a ferocious winter storm in mid-February that set me back. I was not one of the thousands who lost power, but I definitely was conserving as my way of helping others. As a result, I didn’t work on my computer much during that time. But, now I’m resuming full-force!
I think the next course is going to be the Heart Pagoda pendant… I designed this exclusively as an Add-on Class for the Fall 2018 Heart of Texas Bead Retreat. I was still teaching it at the beginning of 2020, but due to the COVID pandemic, I’ve decided to retire it and offer it online. I’ll let you know when it’s available.
In the meantime, I hope you’re getting some inspiration from the Student Gallery on this site. I love that I am able to showcase beautiful pieces made by talented students! If you’re out there looking around and see a class you’d be interested in, please let me know… you can send an email or post in the Comments. Hope to hear from you soon!
Happy Beading!
