I love it when new designs emerge from existing projects! Flora is one of those happy coincidences… It happened because I nested a partial base from Circle for a Landing as I was going through old prototypes. The pretty “flower” that was created made a perfect set of earrings or a sweet little pendant. Now, it’s in my Teachable school for everyone to enjoy.
You use five different colors of Delica Beads to create the graphic pattern… But only 1 gram of each color is needed for a pair of earrings, making this project another great stash buster!
The finished size is about 1.5″ (3.8cm) square. I think it makes a nice size for earrings, but I like the small pendant too.
I used a 2-holed 8mm Pearl from my stash as I began my prototype, and although I liked the look of it, I couldn’t find that bead again! (You know how that is – it was probably in my stash for a few years.) The Candy Beads were a great find… just the right size and a lot of options for color and finish.
The 2mm Pearls add a nice touch on the points and for the connections. But, after making several pair of earrings using Swarovski Crystal Pearls, Chinese Pearls, and some Czech Pearls (again from my stash) I got some feedback from students in other courses that all 2mm Pearls are not the same size. Everything I used had been exactly 2mm or only slightly larger. But some of their recent purchases of 2mm Czech Beads showed they are a bit bigger. I addressed this in the video Selecting Bead Colors in the course, and I hope you will review it when choosing beads for the project.
