“And now, the end is near”
As I write this post, Frank Sinatra’s version of “My Way”, written by Paul Anka, keeps running through my mind… But to be clear, I’m not talking about the end of human life, just an end to one chapter in mine!
I’ve not really designed any new beadwork for several years now and I’ve relied on the strength of old designs to justify the online courses. Although I’ve continued to sell some of those patterns, in the past year interest in them has declined and the platform fees have risen. So, on September 15, 2025, the Teachable School will be closed.
At this time, I’m not sure if I will offer the course patterns for sale in my Etsy shop because the written instructions in the courses have a lot of references to the videos, which will not be included in any pattern package. I plan to assess how much work would be needed to remove those references. Also, when I first added my tutorials in Etsy, they were stolen and offered at half-price on questionable websites! That was one of the reasons I liked Teachable because students had to sign in to download and I think that deterred theft. Plus, I could offer videos to demo some tricky spots like I would do in a physical class.
Next Steps…
I will be sending out email notices to students through Teachable, and hopefully, I will reach all students. Please note that if you opted-out of receiving emails, your contact will be slower. I’ve listed a few things that existing students need to be aware of on the IMPORTANT NOTICE page under the Online Courses (Teachable) menu link. But here’s some background information:
Although the courses will not be sold, you can still access them if you have already purchased by clicking on My Courses in the school header. Until the school closes, you may go through the curriculum as you have always done. I suggest reviewing the videos, since they will NOT be available to download, and of course, downloading ALL the PDF files in the course(s).
Stella Prisma and Stella Nova students, until the school closes you may still purchase the PRIVATE follow-on courses that are offered through links in the course curriculum in the Next Steps section. They will also be gone when the school closes.
Thank you!
I truly appreciate your support through the years and plan to keep the website up and running, especially the Student Gallery. You have all inspired me to create beautiful objects! Thank you!!!
